Dominant sector of employment
The maps show Sweden�s transformation from a country primarily engaged in agriculture, via industrialisation to a situation in which most people are employed in service industries. The circles show total employment in absolut figures the colour indicates the dominant industry sector. Still in late 19th century agriculture dominated all counties outside Stockholm. Hundred years later the service sector is predominant everywhere, in Stockholm county the private service sector.
