CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT
The Customs Department is a frontier-control authority that charges, collects and reports on customs, excise and other duties as well as providing data for the foreign trade statistics. This Department has a well-developed international information network.

In 1998 it had 2,576 employees, 1,152 of whom were women. The central management is under the control of the Board of Customs, under which there are regional and district administrations. Since 1999 there have been six customs regions with a total of 41 customs offices.
